Re: Flood & Dike
The
Council of The Village of Wawanesa thanks
all volunteers/workers/equipment operators
for their prompt response early Wednesday
morning in assisting with getting a dike in
place along the river.
Friendly
reminders:
- The
public is asked to stay away from the dike
area.
- The
streets are closed except to local traffic/residents.
- There
is no safety equipment out there at this
time.
- The
public is at their own risk.
- The
dike will be patrolled until the water recedes.

Notice
is hereby given that a vote of the voters
of The Village of Wawanesa will be taken to
elect

(4) Councillors from the following duly nominated
candidates:

I, Leonard Plett, the Senior Election Official
of the Village of Wawanesa declare candidate
Bruce Gullett elected as Mayor by acclamation.
VOTING
PLACES
Voting
places will be open for voting on Wednesday
the 27th day of October, 2010 between
8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
At: The New Horizon Center - 202 Fourth Street,
Wawanesa, Manitoba
IDENTIFICATION
MAY BE REQUIRED BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO VOTE.
A person may be required to produce one piece
of government issued photo identification
(for example - driver’s license or passport)
or at least two other documents that provide
proof of identity.
ADVANCE
VOTING
For the purpose of accommodating persons who
are qualified to vote, but who have reason
to believe that they will be absent or otherwise
unable to attend their proper voting place
on election day, an advance voting opportunity
will be located at the Wawanesa Village Office,
106 Fourth Street, and will be open Wednesday,
October 20, 2010 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00
p.m.
MOBILE VOTING
For the purpose of accommodating persons who
are qualified to vote, but reside at a health
care facility, a mobile voting station will
be set up at the following health care facilities
on election day:
1.
Wawanesa Health Centre, 506 George Street
from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
APPLICATION
TO VOTE BY SEALED ENVELOPE
A
voter who is unable to go in person to the
voting place or vote in advance, may apply
in person, in writing, or by fax to the senior
election official at 106 Fourth Street, Box
278, Wawanesa, MB R0K 2G0. (Fax No. 204-824-2244).
If applying in person*, a voter may apply
between September 29 and October 24, 2010.
*
A voter applying in person may pick up a sealed
envelope ballot package at the time of application.
If
applying by mail or fax**, a voter may apply
between September 23and October 24, 2010.
**
A voter applying by mail or fax will receive
a sealed envelope ballot package by regular
post, or by making alternative arrangements
with the senior election official. If applying
in writing, you must enclose legible copies
of ID, either an official document issued
by the federal, provincial, or municipal government
that contains your name, address and photograph,
such as a valid Driver’s License, OR two documents
that provide evidence of identity and your
current address.

Regarding Local Improvement Plan No. 01-08
By-Law No. 507
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW FIRE HALL
The
council of the Village of Wawanesa has scheduled
a public hearing at the Wawanesa New Horizons
Centre, 202-4th Street, on the 8th day of
May, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. to present the following
local improvement plan.
(a)
Description of the Proposed Local Improvement
The local improvement proposed herein involves
the following projects:
Building a new fire hall at 319 Main Street
Demolition of the old garage building.
(b)
Identification of Potential Taxpayers Under
the Plan
The potential taxpayers under this plan include
all rateable, grant-in-lieu and otherwise
exempt properties in the Village of Wawanesa.
(c)
Method of Calculating Local Improvement Tax
The local improvement taxes to be levied under
this proposal are to be based on the portioned
value of assessable property. Based on the
2008 Assessment a mill rate of 2.11 mills
will be required. Calculated on a residential
property with a market value of $100,000 (portioned
value of $45,000) a $94.95 local improvement
tax will be levied for 10 years.
(d)
Estimated Cost of Local Improvement
New fire hall including removal of old garage

Less contribution from Accumulated Surplus

(e) Particulars of Borrowing
Amount $160,000

Interest Rate 6.50% per annum

A
written objection may be filed with the Chief
Administrative Officer, at 106-4th Street
prior to the commencement of the hearing.
At the hearing, Council will hear any potential
taxpayer who wishes to make presentation,
ask questions or register an objection to
the local improvement plan.
All
objections, written or verbal, must be filed
prior to the adjournment of the hearing and
must include the name, address and property
description of the person filing the objection
and the grounds of their objection.
Copies
of the local improvement plan are available
at the municipal office at 106 Fourth Street
and on the municipal website at www.wawanesa.ca.
