Recreation
Centre

The Wawanesa Recreation Center was completed in 1975.
Within one facility, it combines a full size artificial
ice Hockey Rink, a Curling
Rink with 4 sheets of artificial ice and a pistol and
rifle range. Wawanesa is home to national and
international championship marksmen. The facility is
used extensively during the winter months as the centre
plays host to a number of minor sports teams and holds
many hockey tournaments and curling bonspiels
annually.
There are several curling clubs that make use of the
facility. The men's club, women's club, and senior
leagues hold league play during the curling season. As
well, there is a curling league in the school that makes
use of the building twice a week during the winter
months.
The hockey rink is used mainly for hockey, but
occasionally for figure skating as well. The rink boasts
several minor sports teams, high school hockey, and a
senior level team.
The centre is also available during the summer to
rent for events like auctions, etc.
Directly behind the Recreation Centre is the Wawanesa
Fairgrounds. The Wawanesa Fair Grounds play host once a
year to a stop over by the Manitoba Great Western
Harness Racing Circuit. The Fairgrounds also have the
Riverbend Baseball Complex with 3 irrigated diamonds
used by all of the local baseball teams of various age
levels.
