S.I.S. shall be to assist seniors and disable persons in the communities of Glenboro, Stockton, Hilton and the rural municipality of South Cypress to continue living independently and with dignity in their homes or apartments as long as possible.
Volunteer Services through S.I.S. include:
* letter writing
* friendly phone calls
* library book pick up and delivery
* friendly visits
* home vacation checks
* reading
* walks

Gift Certificates are available towards any service or program offered by S.I.S. These certificates can be purchased through the office in Glenboro by calling phoning or dropping in..

The Coordinator recruits Volunteers or Fee for Service providers. They are requested to register with the S.I.S. office in Glenboro. Volunteers contribute their many skills free of charge. Fee for Service providers are paid by the senior who requests the service. Fees are reasonable and are in accordance with other Senior Support Services. Some examples of Fee for Service would be house cleaning, laundry service, lawn and garden care, snow removal, recycle pick up, driver/escort, foot care, handi-person chores, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, handi-van and bath program. New services are being developed as the need arises.

The Coordinator tries to provide an appropriate volunteer or paid service provider to fill your request. A follow-up call or visit will be done.

Services in Glenboro

* S.I.S. resource handbook available at the S.I.S. office. This book contains informationb about services and resources available in Glenboro and surrounding areas.
* Transportation: Handi-van service in the community including weekly shopping trips, hair and doctor appointments, monthly trips to Brandon, charter service. Private transportation can also be arranged through S.I.S. escort.
* Housecleaning and handi-person chores.
* Referral and counselling: assistance in filling out forms, handi-cap parking permits, E.R.I.K. kits, Lifeline.
* Meal program is available via Meals on Wheels through the hospital
* Foot care: In home foot care can be arranged
* Gazette and Book delivery - Library books can be dropped off when necessary, gazette tapes can be made for folks with difficulty reading.
* Walking program available at the Glenboro school after 4:00 p.m.
* Vacation home check can be arranged through our office to ensure home security during absences or vacation.
Glenboro, South Cypress, Wawanesa Handi Transit has bus passes available through our office any time. A pass is $45.00 ( a $48.00 transportation value)
