Volunteers are needed each day: call your nearest community SIS Coordinator for more information on how to volunteer or get more information on this service. |
||||||||||||
| Each day of the week, Monday through Friday, volunteers deliver meals to people throughout South Western Manitoba. Weekend service is available in select areas .
We think of Meals on Wheels though as more than a meal. While the good nutritious food is a critical part of the service, the daily visit by a volunteer is equally important. For many clients that visit may be their only contact with another individual in a day. For their families and friends the knowledge that a trained volunteer checks in on a regular basis is some reassurance that their family member is okay. Meals on Wheels works closely with other agencies to provide services. Staff work closely with representatives of Home Care, both in the community and in hospitals. We work with Employment and Income Assistance of Manitoba, the Public Trustee of Manitoba, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other similar agencies. |
